Movie That Matter 2017 - 2 Award Nominations

City 40 nominated for two awards at the Movies that Matter 2017 at the Hague (March 24-April 1)

We are delighted to say that 'Into the Inferno' a Spring Films/Werner Herzog Film coproduction for  Netflix has been nominated for the FOCAL International Awards for 'Best Use of Footage about the Natural World'.

Much of the power of 'Into the Inferno' comes from the remarkable work of those brave souls who have ventured to the edge of the inferno. In particular, Katia and Maurice Krafft. French volcanologists who died in a pyroclastic flow on Mount Unzen, in Japan. The Kraffts were pioneers in filming, photographing and recording volcanoes, often getting within feet of lava flows and their remarkable work and other archive is sensitively used throughout the film. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to remaster the archive from the original negatives for our 4K production

The Awards are on the 25th of May 2017 and will be hosted by Hardeep Singh Kohli, the renowned writer, presenter, comedian and broadcaster.

Canadian Screen Awards

The Woman Who Joined the Taliban wins the CSA 2017 for Best Writing in a Documentary Programme or Series.

As part of an experimental initiative, the State broadcaster is investing a total of €4 million in development grants to production companies that have previously produced outstanding films for them.  Richard Melman went to Dusseldorf collect the award and described the event as 'An incredibly forward thinking and far-reaching boost to the television industry. We are really proud to have been selected as one of the recipients'. Spring will start the development process later this month.
