Channel 4 access doc sells to 82 territories with Discovery and Nine Network among the buyers

Australia’s Nine Network, Canada’s Bell Media and Discovery Networks are among the global broadcasters to have picked up Spring Films’ Channel 4 access doc Prison.

Blue Ant International has now sold the 3 x 60-minutes series to more than 80 territories and countries, including France, Norway, Germany, Poland and New Zealand.

Prison taken an in-depth and exclusive look behind bars at HMP Durham, giving rare insight into the challenges prison staff face on a day-to-day basis. Over seven months, the documentary tells the human story on both sides of the door: staff and prisoners, and the real issues facing them all.

Bell Media has acquired the series for its French-speaking services while Discovery has picked it up for Italy. Elsewhere, Prison has sold to Sky in New Zealand, M6 Group network W9 for French-speaking Europe, TV2 in Norway, Luxembourg’s RTL, Polsat in Poland and Germany’s Autentic.

Off the back of these deals, distributor Blue Ant has made series two of Prison, also 3 x 60-minutes, available for pre-sale. The second series focuses on female offenders.
